I now have 2 1956 second edition owners manuals which both seem to meet the criteria of original. IE: 1956 date, part#, second edition . Pages are not off centered , pictures are dark and clear, and no where does it say reprint or courtesy of "cmd". I have a copy from the late seventies and neither one of the 2 is anything like the copy. Both of these are second editions , however, looking at the covers one has white highlighting on the fender tops and side chrome and hood bump (pass side only) and the other has no white highlighting on the body at all . I can not recall how a first edition copy looks and was wondering if the non highlighed one was first edition art work with second edition contents. Thanks for any input , Jim

Re: 1956 owners manual
Jim, make sure to get a copy of the 5th edition 56-7 JM which has the correct '56 engine color. Manual part numbers and application are also in the 5th edition. On original manuals the brake/clutch pedals and carpet weave are very distinct. Photos are very sharp and clear. Cover difference is easily detected when comparing repro to original. Gary....

Re: 1956 owners manual
Gary, I'm leaving Friday morning at 3 , I hope to be there for gate opening. Thanks for the response. This is not a new car to me I've had it over 32 years and wade through the judging manuals. I sure hope this one does justice to the early 56's . They are after all the first Chevrolet "Hot rods" . But I sure would like to know about the cover art on the operations manual. Thanks again , Jim- Top
