As you see people drill new or enlarge holes trying to adjust their hood
Which is wrong (see pic) NO!
Let me first say if your using repro pop-ups the spring are to strong , get
Real original ones. Also if your using repro MALE hood latch's the springs
Are to strong get real original ones .
Don't enlarge or drill any holes if you think you need TO! If you do the
Body front or radiator support may be damaged .
If you removed the body at any time you need to know HOW to add shims under
The radiator support before you adjust the hood.
So that said as I've told many people the hood hinges adjustment is how you
Set the hood , the hood hinge has TWO arms , ONE is to support the hood
(only) and the other ONE is to adjust the pulling DOWN force of the hood
Line on the pop-ups.
First the upper hood hinge holes that are elongated are for
ADJUSTING for hood-body fit.
The lower hood hinge holes that are elongated are for ADJUSTING the second arm
Pull down pressure that bolts to the radiator support (up or down).
Now (IF) the UP or DOWN distance of the hinges don't achieve compressing the
Pop-ups you add shims under the hood area top bolt to increase the angle or pull
Down pressure of the second ARM.
The TWO hood blocks holes are also elongated to set the hood thickness to
The body line and LIMIT the distance the hood is pulled down.
When all is done correctly when you pull the hood release cable the front
Hood line should MOVE higher UP then the body line so that you don't chip
The paint when you open the hood all the way .
This is why many people enlarge the pop-ups holes to lower them because they
Lift the front hood line when closed , they just as well remove them if they
Don't understand how to adjust the hood hinges , you know the hood is not
Adjusted correct when you see some one use both hands or have some one on
The other side of the hood to aid in opening it.
I don't know how to word this to make it more simple to understand but first DONT use repro parts, step up and buy original.
