    '72 air dam seal

I just recieved my new air dam seal that goes between the radiator and the hood. In typical fashon the rubber seal is not in the exact shape of the radiator support since it was shipped in a bag along with other items in a larger box.

It installs with two push-in fasteners but was wondering if any adhesive was required to "help" it stay in its correct location/shape? thanks?

I believe that the air dam seal had a sticky tape on the bottom when the car was assembled.

Now they don't come with it from the parts stores.

I used a very light coating of black weatherstrip glue (3M).
Make sure it is a light coat, don't want it oozing out past the edges.
The last 2 inches or so (of each side) I d not glue, they slip in under the fender lip and will take on their own shape after the hood has been shut for a while.

Then use the push-pins as directed.

Lynn, I just did exactly as Bill described and it worked out great.

I believe that the ones from Doc Rebuild come with adhesive on the bottom. You remove the protective strip and voila! they stick.

Else yes, you can use black weatherstrip adhesive if you don't have the sticky pressure sensitive adhesive on it.

Didn't get mine from Dr. rebuild but had a hunch that I'd have to do something like the rest of you said. Just wanted to be sure I didn't do something irreversable. Thanks and Have fun!!
