    Texture of telescopic adjuster ring

My steering column had been sloppily repainted sometime in the past. I'm rebuilding the column as part of my restoration. I lightly media blasted the painted parts. The process resulted in a mild texture on which I'm using a PPG primer/filler and wet sanding smooth before the finish coat.

I seem to recollect from my last Corvette that the ring used to lock the telescopic movement had some texture to it, similar to but less significant than, the horn button. There was so much paint on this one before it was stripped that I couldn't really tell. I don't want to fill and sand all of the texture out if it's supposed to be there. Can someone please confirm the texture of this ring? Thank you.

I'm going from memory here, but my recollection is the tele control lever assy is a pot metal, die cast, piece. Surface texture was 'as cast'...

I recently painted my tilt/tele. The lever is pot metal and appears to be painted with little preparation. The lack of preparation seems to create a little texture when painted.
