    62 Oil Pressure Gauge

I need a little help. How do I remove the tubing nut from the back of the oil pressure gauge. I used a line wrench to remove it, but the shoulders just rounded off. I don't want to trash my oil pressure gauge.

Vise grips & buy a new fitting/line as needed.

Will mild heating of the nut help?

Disconnect the battery while you are in there. Nothing will wake you up faster than bumping a wrench against a hot terminal.

Use a flare nut wrench next time. I have bent the handles to fit all kinds of situations, like the injector pump on a 1980 Olds diesel. Dale

It will melt the solder sealing the bourdon tube and ruin the gauge

Thank you didn't even think about the solder. Buy the way I am from the south, we interchange flare nut and line wrench regularly.

I've had the same problem. I removed the gauge from the cluster, clamped the tubing nut in a vise, and rotated the gauge off of the tubing nut by hand. Maybe I was just lucky, but it worked great!
