Micheal; The A/M calls for a "lock washer" I was told that it was a star washer but I am not sure. I have never been called on it.

Yup, it even looks like an external tooth lock washer in the drawing. I wonder what type washer is shown in the standard parts book under that part number.
That washer must have been added for 67 because there was no washer of any kind called for in the 66 AIM for the throttle lever.
Good pic. When you go full throttle, does the ground strap hit the firewall?
The strap on my car is broken at the point where it grounds to the motor. It was installed exactly like yours(but no star washer). I am replacing the original strap with a repro. When I move the accelerator linkage to full throttle, the new strap hits the firewall. But, there is no mark on the firewall where the old strap might have hit.
I have seen at least one car where the strap was mounted going forward on the accelerator bracket and "s" ing around the front of the accelerator bracket and "s" ing back to the motor. But the way your strap is oriented is the way my old strap was oriented.
The assembly guide seems to be more representative of the small block strap. Maybe somebody else with an original BB strap setup will chime in on this one.

Doug; Yes does hit the firewall. See first picture. I did not know it. So I moved it to the position that is shown in the A/M and it no longer hits the firewall. See second picture. Thanks I never knew it hit. By the way the lever is the same for big and small block that's why it shows just one picture in the A/M.

Micheal; I have a 1973 Corvette Parts Book and I could not find that part # for that star washer but I did come across something interesting. It shows the proper way stat washer should be used on ground straps.

Finally got the grease off my ground strap where I could see the thing. It does have a star washer between the lever and the ground strap. (SB). Amazing what you can find when you know what to look for. Thank you. Dale
I don't think the part #'s for the strap are any different from small to big block. When I installed mine it's pointed forward and down and forms a S to attach to the intake bolt under the wire bracket. When I removed the old spade from the lever it was oriented that way so it seemed logical for the S routing..

Looks like the washer was added for the 67. This is the AIM sheet for 66 and no washer is shown in the drawing or parts list for the throttle lever ground strap.
