Hello,I need to know if there is anyone in the northern, va area that knows how to adjust doors, windshield, door post on my 60 vette I realize I need someone with experiance since I am not having much luck I am willing to pay a reasonable price for someone to come to my shop in woodbridge,va and perform this work you can reach me michael, at 703 590-2133
Mike, Before you invest too much money with some one who says they can do this, the parts you mentioned are really not adjustable on a fiberglass car, unless you are considering a full tear down to do it. Hope you get some detailed replies on this before you invest.
Chuck,I guess I need to explain what I am doing I bought this car 30 yrs ago and I am trying to put it back together I pre- fit doors and post before paint thinking I would have some adjustment on finale assembly. I just can't get the post to match windshield. and given the amount of time I have spent on it I think someone with experiance would be able to fit this for me also in my first post I shoud have asked if anyone knows of a shop in n va that could handle this for me. any help would be appreciated thanks, Mike
Mike, What problem are you having? Door post to the windshiled post gap(i.e. not enough gap - add rubber shims under the outside corners of the windshield). To adjust the in and out or to and away from the windshield - the very bottom screw is slotted a little and will allow adjustment of the front channel slightly. The posts always stick out at the very top to meet up with the header bow on the soft top or hard top. Is the gap around the doors pretty even? If not you may need to shim the body slightly. Hope this helps, Ted
Ted, I will give you as much detail as I can I know sometimes it is hard to explain or to understand without a picture which I plan on taking in a few weeks once I get camera back The door gap is pretty good all around, door shuts good, windshield back n forth good which I have slotted and can move anyway the lingering problem is the bottom of door post were it meets windshield post and curves has a gap of about 1/2 inch on the bottom if I try to raise door it closes gap but then door is to high to match front, rear fenders will try and get pic so everyone can see what I am talking about thanks, MIke
Mike, The curve never does seem like it fits right. Acutally usually you'll find that one side fits better than the other. I believe on my '58 the right door post fits better than the left. I'll see if I can get a pic of mine for a comparison. Ted
