    1967 L-68 vacuum cannister....

I just pulled the distributor on the 67 L68. I did not really know what to find as this is an original TI car that had the TI setup replaced with a conventional single point distributor somewhere in it's past.

The distributor appears to be in good condition except I am confused about the vacuum cannister. I was under the impression that a 390/400 car would use the 360 can (360 12). Mine has the 201 can on it now (201 15).

I have both these cans in my possession so I can switch easily. I can also easily go to NAPA and get the B1 or B20 can? Engine is a stock L-68...

What are the vacuum advance specs listed in the '67 CSM or AMA specs?

The correct specs for the 1111247 distributor for this car (cannot confirm the distributor because the tag is off) but appears correct are 0 deg @ 7", 12 deg @ 12".

The 201 can cannot be corect because it is a 15 degree can.

The 360 MAY be correct, but I would strongly prefer to follow your recommendation and use the current NAPA/Echlin/Dana replacement that is best suited to a 67 L-68.

My understanding is that the "360" was the OE VAC and the nominal specs are 0 @ 8", 12 @ 12".

For replacement, I recommend the B20 or B26 ID numbers for all vintage big blocks that have full time vacuum advance including OE ported vacuum advance that has been converted to full time. Both of the above ID numbers are nominally 0@8", 16@12".

For anyone who is looking for a technically correct VAC for YOUR vintage engine with full time vacuum advance (or ported converted to full time), look at the following thread:

Per the Delco specs, the 360 is the correct unit for your application with the 1111247 distributor.
