I've read N.Adams, the Judging Guides and the archives on the topic of exhaust system paint, and I still have some questions before I install the exhaust on my '60 Fuelie:
If the paint was sprayed on just before the body drop, shouldn't I be painting just the top and sides of the pipes, clamps and mufflers? Many seem to also paint the bottoms of these parts and not get dinged for this during judging.
I thought that the rear pipe extentions(tailpipes) were not installed until after the body drop on a '60, so shouldn't they be completly unpainted?
It would have been impossible to paint the head pipes all the way to the exhaust manifolds, so where should the black paint start?
Why does the '58 to '60 Judging guide say that black preservative paint was applied at the manufactuing source for the exhaust parts? I've never run accross anyone suggesting that the parts were painted prior to assembly.
Thanks,
Lee
