1960 Shifter hole size

Can someone please tell me the dimensions of an unmolested shifter hole through the fiberglass shift tunnel. The width of mine is 2 and 3/8" which looks correct and untouched. I need the length.

Mine was enlarged and I am repairing it.

My '59 is 3-3/4.

My 61 is 2 3/4'' wide X 3 1/2'' long I suggest depending on how many sides were modified or (cut), might throw the true dimensions off. So after proper size cut is established, I would install transmission with shifter and go through the gears including reverse checking for side clearances. Remember the shifter boot hides a multitude of sins.....

3 1/2 Mark. The hole is only a smidgen smaller in length than the chrome shifter plate. The shifter plate is 3 3/4 Stewy
