67 427 Upper Rad Support Bracket Hardware

Hello,

I'm replacing the hardware that secures the upper radiator brackets to the core support. Right now it has generic hardware store bolts and washers. I have the "correct" replacement hardware kit for this application from Paragon. It includes (2) WB 5/16"-18 X 1.25" LG bolts, (2) TR 5/16"-18 X 1.625" bolts, (4) .125" flat washers and (4) star washers.

My trial fit inidicates a 1.25" LG bolt is too short to go through the assembly and engage the welded nut on the other side of the core support with the 1/8" flat washer and star washer. Has anyone experienced this?

Also, I am unclear based on the AIM and the judging manual as to which position takes the long "TR" bolts and which takes the shorter "WB" bolts.

The bolts in my 67 BB upper radiator brackets and shroud support are all "RSC" marking 5/16" x 1-3/4". All 6 are the same. There is a standard lock washer and then a flat washer.

Every original untouched 66-67-68 427 I have ever worked on inspected and observed( and thats well into the hundreds) have had RSC grade 8 bolts. Some had thick washers and thin along with split ring lock washers and some just had the thin washer with split ring lock washers. None had star washers or grade 5 TR bolts. That sounds like 69-up hardware. All the bolts are the same length. I don't have any here to measure right now they are out in the shop.

Thanks for your replies. What I received from Paragon is definitely not correct, though it's the replacement they list. Their center bracket hardware kit includes the 1.75" RSC screws, flat washers, and conventional lock washers, which seems correct. I am going to use the same fasteners on the upper rad brackets.
