    63-67 air conditioned C2's

My 64 convertible with air had two holes in the right fenderwell that I could insert a extension/extensions that lined up with the front two spark plugs to remove them easier with the air conditioner compressor restricting accessability.

Did all C2's with air conditioning have these holes in the fenderwells from the factory?

No way ! A mechanic's solution to a next-to-impossible job (especially with having to remove the horizontal radio shields under the compressor).

Reminds me of the Sunbeam Tigers (with the Ford small block). Apparently, the rear plug(s) had to be accessed from the inside of the passenger comp't.

      Jim,

My 67 AC car has them as well. Something GM should have done at the factory.

I remenber the mid 70's Chevrolet Monza with the 350 V8 engine that to change the sparks plugs on one side the motor mount had to be unbolted and the engine raised up to accerss the plugs. Ed

holes in fenders were the way many mechanics got to rear plugs on many other cars besides GM cars - remember doing this on Doges, Fords, etc. when I worked in my Father's service facility back in the day

Sounds like illegal race car lightening, to me!

Jim -I agree w/ Wayne. C2s w/ C60 did not come with holes in the fender from the factory. Aftermarket mechanic's solution to one of those getting at PITA spark plugs to change them.

No holes on my 67 sb w/ C60.

The pre-'68 Chevy II's with V-8's were the same way, and the procedure in the Shop Manual calls out drilling several holes in their (steel) engine compartment side panels to change the plugs.
