Starting (before sending it to the painter) my '75 coupe after a year of frame on work. The entire dash is out, so I have strapped the instument cluster in for Oil Pressure & Temp information.
Engine started immediately & died (empty carb)...restarted second time and again, died on lack of fuel (waiting for the bowl to fill). When I hit the key the third time, no nuthin! Buzzer and dash lights were gone. Checked battery connections and the ground connections battery to frame, and frame to engine block ( removed the knob type battery disconnect switch just in case )...still nothing. Showing 12.4 volts at battery, and at solenoid.
Since I did have the steering column out, I verified the connection of the "strip plug" on the column...all straight and tight.
Fusable links appear to be ok ( I replace them during the restore...soldered & shrink wrapped ). I'm just puzzled that it was OK, then not OK...I can't see how the starter or solenoid could be in play here, although the starter does appear to be "dragging", and I simply cleaned and painted both during the restoration.
Since the dash is out, I have pulled most accessory fuses until re-assembly, so I didn't have the chance to see if any other lights or accy have power.
Any advice on where to start looking?
Thanks
