    Re: original t3 lights

Most of us go out and take a nice relaxing stroll through our local scrap yards looking for other GM cars of the era to act as parts donors. The ones that are PRIZED by scrap yard hounds are the 'other' GM models which featured retractable headlights (Olds Toronado, Cadillac Eldorado, Etc.) because the lamps are normally hidden by their closed doors and they were protected from road debris over the years...

Don't have scrap yards in your neck of the woods? Don't want to spend the travel time looking? You'll find them routinely on eBay sold by those who have done the exploration effort...

Some sold on E-BAY, if not all, have stone pitting, don't ask how I know. Steve

While I applaud your search for original components for your car, isn't it just a 3 point deduct for a full set of DOT replacement T3s in Flight Judging?

Yep, they shore nuf do! So, you're on that old teeter totter of trading originality points for condition points.

That's UNLESS you happen to score a set of truly NOS lamps OR go to the pain of polishing the glass lens and using 'jet age' windshield type pit filler to really minimize the visible wear...

I found some old bulbs at the local junk yard and installed them. Guess what within a year the seal leaked and with a puff of smoke they were gone.
There is also the safety matter of visibility at night. Those old bulbs were not very bright.
My 2 cents get the reproductions and take the point hit.

Try this guy, he says he has a thousand T-3's. I bought 4 of them that are perfect...no dings or darks spots, they look like new. PT
