Hi:
I've seen GM archive pictures showing the happy GM employees using jitterbug sanders (square pads) on the intermediate sanding operations such as smoothing the putty rub and primer on the exterior bonding strips of C2 bodies (I think before the final wet sanding). My question is did they exclusively use jitterbug sanders for these intermediate operations? The reason I ask this, is I remember seeing a Brown Metallic 78 Vette from the factory with distinct DA sanding marks on all of the bonding seams, and was wondering when and if the use of a DA was considered standard practice on Vette bodies?
Also, what were the prep steps for painting the dash and other fiberglass interior pieces on C2's? Were they just sprayed interior color? Primed first, or at least sanded/scuffed? Did they use the same jitterbug sander on these pieces or some other means (such as a DA) to smooth/prepare the surface?
