Does any 427/400 big block 1968 exist BEFORE #164?
Does any 427/400 big block 1968 exist BEFORE #164?
Hello NCRS Members. I could use a little help with the research of my Corvette. I own a 1968 convertible build number 164. It is a 427/400 automatic. I am searching for the existence of any (427/400) 1968 big block Corvette (auto or 4-speed) with a build number BEFORE #164. Do you know of any? If you can help with my search I would be very grateful. I am only researching 1968 Vettes.

Joe, the interior of my 68 Vette convertible is Gunmetal Gray. The windshield posts are the same.
Do you have an "early" Vette?

I had 68 big block some years ago. The reason I asked about the color of the windshield posts is because of what a St.Louis Corvette plant worker once told me.
He said at the beginning of the new 68 model production he was instructed to hand paint the windshield posts to match the color of the interior. When he complained that was difficult he was instructed to spray paint the windshield posts to match the color of the interior. When said that too was difficult and took too long..they went to painting the windshield posts black regardless of the color of the interior.
