Robert that is the correct shroud check where the section is missing there should be 3 small holes that is where the extension is attached with 3 small bolts. If I remember correctly the shroud at those holes have a special nut for the bolts they are pressed in to the shroud. You can find the extension at swap meets, the Driveline, or that auction site. They are hard to find I don't have my parts book with me but someone will probably list the part # for you. Paul 18046
Dave, great photo. That looks just like mine. I had assumed that some prior owner must have chopped out the section for some reason, but must be correct. So, that's good news. Thanks.
Great picture Dave. Is it my imagination or do I see a U on the heater hose? My 1970 has a U every 3 to 4.5 inches along its length.
Terry,
What you see is JT not U. The 71 JT heater hose is a 4 rib hose with the 2 outer ribs being thin and the 2 center ribs are thicker. I looked at my 70 LT-1 out of curiousity. The lower heater hose has not markings at all with very faint ribs and the upper heater hose has O every 8 inches or so.
For many years I thought there were no marks on my heater hoses, until the upper hose burst by the AIR pump. With the hose off I can see the U marks on the underside of the hose. I don't know the pattern of the groves on mine, but since those identify the manufacturer I don't think too much about it. I can look when I get home though -- I think I have a photo of the stamp I can post too -- but I don't want to drag this thread off topic. I just wanted to compliment you on the picture.
Do the shroud extension bolts go from the inside to outside of shroud (head n inside of shroud) or outside to inside (head on the outside of ther shroud)? Where are the three-prong zinc-plated T-nuts supposed to be embedded--on the outside of the shroud extension or the outside of the shroud??? Mine has them on both?? Thanks. Paul
