    Canadian Dealer "Improvements" 72 Corvette

Here's a couple of shots of '72 coupes with patterned vinyl added to T-tops and halo & wings (or whatever they call those things that continue down the deck lid). Dealer is Gorries Golden Mile, a large seller in eastern Toronto, Ontario. Also added BF Goodrich T/A radials to many Covettes on his lot.

First shot is at Markham airport, in the summer of '72. The white car is next to my '72 convertible # 8196, also a Gorries car. Second pic is of another coupe on the Gorries lot, with an "ivory" vinyl addition, plus the T/A's.

Trivia--Notice the blue interior (code 412) on my convertible, with the Steel Cities Gray exterior (code 988). This combo required specifying "Color & Trim Override" code ZP2AA5, of which there were only 164 '72 convertibles so ordered.

      Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the interesting pictures. I can't say that I like it, but some must have, since the dealer was doing it. I wonder how he handled the transition from vinyl to quarter panel and rear deck?
      Regards,
      Alan

Gee, Scott -- All I can make out is "Delco Canada__ GM". Gorries was about as far east as I got on Eglington Ave. And I was there OFTEN -- must have 30 or so work orders correcting nuisance items (factory imperfections or in-transist damage). I'd phone up to see if the car would be ready; take the subway & bus to get there, only to be told that the ordered part was wrong or some other flimsy excuse; ... come back again. They wouldn't even consider rectifying the gaps at the top of the doors by the handle (TFP ).

Check the 4 other pics that I will be posting in a few minutes (also taken at Gorries), one showing the north side of Eglington in the background.

A question for you southern Ontario guys: Gorries Golden Mile (Eglington) is dealer # 95-526. They had another dealership downtown Toronto, on Bay St., just north of Wellington (where I worked in the Gulf Oil offices). Did this dealer carry the same number ? I can't remember seeing any Corvettes there.

Interesting white with tan top! My neighbor in Fort Wayne, IN bought a new white coupe with saddle interior and it also had a tan vinyl top added. I believe Tom's was a '75. I never thought I would see another!
