I've ordered from everyone out there that has corvette parts and these guys are by FAR the most expensive that I have run into. On top of the high prices, they are the most unwilling to work with you to use another shipper. Now, I'm in Hawaii, so I'm normally trying to convince the supplier to use USPS Priority and they just about always comply. Either that or they'll convince UPS to ship to Hawaii via Ground. It's just that these guys will not be flexible at all.
I guess that's what the Hawaiians call 'paradise tax'.
The late Dale Pearman went to work for Ecklers for a year. A year was all he could stand. Bottom line, Ecklers make a LOT of money off of shipping charges. They aren't the only ones.

      or 2nd day air $$ 2 day

(I do not ship by US Post as we have had a terrible time getting paid for claims with them - also when you add all the extras (delivery confirmation, insurance etc) the price comes pretty close to UPS rates)

Thanks for the good info Long Island Corvette. After reading your post I looked at my daily rate manual and was amazed to see that there are two zones for Alaska & Hawaii that deliver UPS Ground 1 to 5 days. Zone 44 and 46 from my area. Also a ground service for Puerto Rico which is zone 45. But the service is not cheap. A #1 package from zone 2 to metro Alaska is a little more than 1/2 the cost of new day air. But it's still a bargain compared to 1st or 2nd day air and one that I will be using.
Goes to show you (me) what happens when you don't read all the fine print. John D.

You should ALL be ashamed that you have any money to buy Corvette parts in this poor economy. And to think that all you have to complain about is shipping???? The shame of it all!

Fortunately for each of you your Congress is now working to solve that problem of excess money causing serious problems in your life.

Now back to all the complaining about shipping!

        Carry On!

On 'run-around' from the USPS regarding insurance claims, just try collecting on an international shipment. Then, you'll see a REAL dog and pony story in a circus environment!

But, on three occassions where USPS failed to deliver international parcels for me, ALL THREE were rather promptly resolved when I supplied the receipient with the USPS customs/tracking ID and he initiated the search in his home country...
It's no secret. Actually UPS used to pay with no questions asked when they ran their claims dept themselves. Now they have outsourced their claims resolution and the first response is always to deny the claim due to poor packaging.

I just read that due to the recent financial difficulties FEDX and UPS have merged and formed new company. The new shipper is now FED-UP.
