    Diff Plug question

    Hi,

    I am changing the diff oil in my 73 for the first time. Should there be an o-ring or gasket on the fill plug? It look like the oil was leaking out around the plug.

    No "O" ring and no gasket. If it leaks just glue it up. Actually it is a taper that should get tighter as it screws into the housing.

        3/4" NPT tapped hole. Use some Permatex high temp thread sealant on it and you're good to go.

          Update on using this product. It does seal very well but it also tends to lock the threads. I have had to use some heat to break threads loose so I no longer use it on differential plugs. I use #2 Permatex instead
