1962 Gas Cap

Hello all,
I have heard conflicting information regarding gas caps, specificly 1962. Is the cap supposed to be stamped FE on the top right side? I have also heard it was supposed to be from the Stoudt (spelling?) company. Any info would be greatly apreciated.

There were 3 caps used (Fuller-Emerson, Standt and Eaton). The Fuller-Emerson cap has an "F" on the left and an "E" on the right. Pictures of all 3 are on page 33 of the Judging Guide.

Since you have (had) a '62, I'd sure recommend getting a copy of the NCRS Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide - '61-'62 Edition.

I've been documenting original 62's on a regular, consistent basis since 1974. I have yet to see anything other than a Fuller-Emerson cap (F E) on an undeniably original 62.
