Out of curiosity I'm wondering how do the plastic headlight shields get attached without the three U notches in the bumper that allow access to the screws?

    Hi John
I have a feeling the plastic shields were installed just before front bumper was installed and then the front plastic grills installed and bumprettes.

I guess they changed the design for the later cars to the 3 U notches due to cumbersome and not happy with front end work in taking the bumper off and on.

I was going to install my front end stuff last month but we got 3 feet of snow so maybe in the next week as I'm taking a week off from work. I will try and figure out how they did it at the factory.
    Thanks, Grant

Grant - you are providing us (read: dumbo's who were silly enough to buy this 68 car to restore just like me ) with really valuable information. I would drop the 68/69 team leader an email (Chuck Berge) with the info for him to collect and to pass on to the revision team.

Guy's, on my #9643, the Trim Tag is dated (Monday) January 22, 1968. I'm not sure at what time in the build process that the Trim Tag was attached to the car but we do know that it was after the paint process.
