JOE
I will bet most are back together now. Some of the Corvettes look like the one I drove 4 hours to look at. I ask the guy all kinds of questions about the condition & he said it just needed restored. When I got there & looked at the mess I bitched about the condition. He said I told you it needed restored & I said It needs a resurrection not a restoration & I am not Jesus. Remember when the guy had a complete 56 at Bloomington & if you needed a part he had a set of wrenches & you took it off.

Re: this can make you sick
Reminds me of Floyd Richardson's place in the '70's. He was located on the SC NC line. Had, what I used to think, all the salvage Corvettes in the world. Doc McCagh will remember the placeDick Whittington- Top

Attached are a few pictures taken 2 years ago at a junk yard near Hamilton , Ohio.
The 62 sat ourside since 1964 when a friend of mine bought the dash cluster.
It has since been sent to the crusher after the last parts were removed from it.- Top

Floyd Richardson: Bennettsville, sc just south of the nc/sc border. in 1970, lea i and the kids were returning from camping on the beach at hunting island sc. we disliked the interstates so we ran a state rd east of I95. i about lost it as we came upon the fields of c-1 and c-2's. the trees growing up thru the hood-less engine compartments had to be 8 to 10" in diameter. bought a wonderbar and antennae and hood hinges for my 57 for 35 bucks. went back to Floyds for several years in the 70's. he had a 53 and 55 vin 1 in his garage. had a 56-57 body mounted where the cab of the rollback was mounted originally.it was a hell of a looking thing. he'd buy wrecked vettes from florida to new york and drag em back to bennettsville. he had Diabetes and the last time i saw him, he'd had a leg amptated. heard he died young of his diabetes. he was a good ole boy. mike- Top

Re: this can make you sick
'Used to scour the yards in NE Indiana and one near Hicksville, Ohio. Did a couple of times with #1360, his brother and a guy we hung around with. Got a 3.36 posi but never used it and passed on a 6-71 blower case (cracked) and a P48 that once belonged to a friend's '65. Instead we did get a number of bolts for the old Chrysler. 'Remember that Tom??? We carried them out in our socks!

Re: this can make you sick
I use to visit a yard in Milothian, Va. (sorry if I misspelled it) named J and W Auto parts. I think the people were Tex and Bobby that ran it. Had very similar yard as the one shown. Somewhere I have some pictures. This was in the early seventies. Anyone else deal with them?- Top

Re: this can make you sick
This yard was in Seattle, my backyard. It is closed now. I believe Pacific Corvettes in Puyallup, Wa bought the stock. Mary Jo once told me (maybe 10-15 years ago) she made an offer for the straight axel stuff Lincoln had. Don;t know if that deal went through or not.
The fence around this yard was a thousand old wheels welded together. Bet there were some rare vette $$$ wheels in that fence.- Top

Yup, here is the link: http://www.pacvette.com/wa/index.shtml
I was in Seattle in the late 70's, spent a good portion of a rainy day walking that yard. My '55 trunk lock came from that trip.- Top
