Does anyone know a name or company that might sell original restored 64 fule doors? I am not real happy with my reproduction and unfortunately I gave away my original. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You are going to have to find a good original (possible) or get happy with the reproduction. Trim Parts makes a very acceptable reproduction. If you are unhappy I'm sure they would exchange it for you.
A nice original 64 fuel door will be hard to find. The emblems tend to crack over time. Nice original 66 fuel doors are easier to find since they were the GM service replacements on C2's for years. If you can find an original with nice chrome, the emblem can be replaced and are available through Trim Parts. You can carefully pry back the studs to replace the emblem and then reset the studs. The studs tend to break apart so you may need some glue to hold the assembly together. It's not a particularly difficult job; you just need to find a nice core to work with. These show up on ebay with some regularity. Good luck!
