    Painting new rear spring

I am using the Seymore grey primer (said to be correct color) to paint my new rear spring and would like to have good coverage. I worry about the possibility of cracking once subjected to the flexing of normal use. I don't believe there is any flex agent in this paint and wonder if anyone has had a problem when 2-3 coats of this paint is applied to a driver car. Thanks, Mike

primer will not hold up if it is in damp weather. color should not flake if you glass bead surface first. recommend you coat with a satin clear or use a battleship grey or a finish paint that seals. primer does not seal unless it is an epoxy two part mix.

        Michael,

I used the spring paint from Quanta and it worked very well. It has been three years since I did it and it looks just fine. 1 can was more then enough to do the spring.

          Thanks Tom,
I am a little concerned about the coating I have and will get the Quanta product instead. Best wishes, Mike

            Michael,

If you install new liners from a kit and use a new center bolt make sure you grind that center bolts head down to match the old bolt head. If installed and torqued with a tall head you will NOT be a happy camper.
