    1969 T-Top/T-Bar stainless.

I don't know what you call this piece.... The large "T" shaped piece of stainless trim that is exposed once you remove the two roof panels....

Anyways, is it possible to polish this piece or is it actually chromed? Mine has a few rub spots from the weatherstrip and one little ding that I'd like to take care of and figure that since it's off now would be the time to do it. I just want to make sure that this piece is actually stainless and not chromed before I start.

Mine ('77) appears to be stainless... Nevr Dull works well in that area!

Thanks Oliver, I have a can of Never Dull but never even thought of using it on stainless. I just ordered a buffing kit from Caswell but in the mean time I'll give the Never Dull a try and see what happens.

By the way, where do you live in Germany?

Northern part - we live some 10 mls. north of Hamburg, where I am working...
        Why do you ask?

With ND I have been able to work out almost all stains on the T-Top-bar... Works very well!

          Hi Greg,
I believe the large SS trim piece on my 71 Coupe was flash chromed.
I had the 4 pieces of trim, (2 front, 2 rear), it butts into, rechromed.
I then had the large T shaped SS piece polished. The person who did it called me and said "This piece has some sort of coating on it, I think it's chrome, and I'm buffing through it". I went to look at it and it was 'blotchy'. I asked him to buff all the chrome off. He did and it looked great.
... Until I put it in place and it was obvious that polished SS is a very different color than chrome. I then searched for someone who would flash chrome SS. It turned out well and now all 5 pieces look the same. Really way too nice!!!
          Regards,
          Alan

...I never spotted any difference. But that may be either because I always treated all of the area at the same time, or by now I never polished through any coating...
Or maybe they changed this between the early and the late 70s...
