1. How was the metal pipe in the lower radiator hose finished? Was it cad plated or painted black or other?
2. Is it correct that sometime in 54 the nubs that help hold the wheel covers on were added to the wheel? Or did this not happen until 55?
1. Black. That's the finish on my '54's pipe and it's been in our family for 37 years. When we got it, it still had several original coolant hoses, one of which was attached to the metal elbow.
2 My '54 (June production) doesn't have any nubs. Can't answer for later cars.
on 54 vin 2184, three out of the five wheels have the teats(i prefer teats to numbs).i've owned the car since 1970 and at the time , i felt the five wheels were original to the 54. mike
Thanks for the input guys. One of my wheels has the nubs. Can't say it came that way thought. However, I did read one other post from many moons ago that indicated, as did Mike, that there is some reason to believe the nubs started to show up in 54. I gather this is not a certainty though.
Mike, are you from Columbia? If so, know my college classmate Bill Zaph?
