    Deck Lid Hinge Assembly

    I want to re-do my deck lid hinge assemblies.
    According to Noland Adams, Vol. 2 page 22/23 the hinge assembly was installed prior to painting. Therefore the part of the hinge that the lid mounts to is painted body color. I must assume the inside part of the hinge assembly that is tucked down under and the spring received overspray of body color.
    My question: What was the original color of the assembly and spring when installed prior to painting ?

    Depends on whether it was an AOS or St. Louis. AOS were green zinc chromate, St. Louis were black. I am not sure of the spring color.

      Is it a '53 or a '93?

        Neither Loren. The little logo beside the subject header says 66. That icon comes up beside the thread title when I look at the list of threads, but that might depend on how one views the threads. I haven't a clue how I set mine up when the new forum came up. That falls in the short-term memory range, and all this computer stuff is soooo strange.

          Terry;

          Another great point. Man! you're on a roll! I just realized that when I send a reply post, I have been clicking on "63-64" as the new request in red in the submission block asks for. What I am doing is kind of identifying where I'm coming from rather that for the subject year(s) I am addressing. As a result, the title may state it is about a: "78 Pace Car--------", but next to it is my "63-64". I have been doing that wrong and I will either correct it or not use it except for on a new thread.

          In other words; the Model year Icon should be about the subject and not an I.D. of me, as its purpose is to help searching for the subject. So see, we can all learn something every day if try hard enough.

              Thanks Wayne;
              Mine is an AOS, so Green Zinc Chromate it must be. I'm assuming springs were black.
              I wonder if AOS cars had much overspray on the assembly ?
              On the hood latches it calls that AOS care had little or no overspray. They were more protective so I wonder if it applys to the lid assembly as well?
              Never know what the judges will say

                Yes, it would have had overspray and coverage of the part of the hinge that you see when the lid is up. I actually wouldnt consider that overspray. They meant to cover the hinge arm.

                Another point of contention with the judging manual. AOS was not more carefull of overspray, the latches and pull cable were not installed at painting, so they had NO black, or primer, or body paint period. That wording needs to be changed. But, it might take an act of God. Sorta like that BB hood issue.
