    69 alternator

Rebuilding original alternator for my 69 L89 #8804. Question: What is the correct finish for the alt pully and fan. Also my pully and fan have a slot for a metal key but the shaft on the alt has no slot?? Also the upper brace looks like two 1/4" brases welded together making it 1/2" thick. Correct or not? Thanks, Lynn Schwebach

Cad/zinc for the pulley. Brace should be one piece, about 1/4"- 5/16" thick

Thanks Dick, do you know if the pully and fan is supposed to have a key slot? Lynn Schwebach

The alternator fans did have a keyway. However, I don't recall any of the pullies having such a keyway. It's possible that some did, though. In any event, if a pulley is otherwise correct, I wouldn't be concerned if it had a keyway, or not. The keyway is, of course, unused and its presence will not be visible when installed.

          Joe,
After several house in lac thinner the paint etc came off the pully and it has the correct part number so I will not worry about the key slot. Thanks, Lynn Schwebach
