I have a '58 with stock dual carters, and just did a tune-up. After, it developed a power-lull during acceleration. It doesn't seem to happen during the first run, but only after stopping for the first time and restarting.
Thinking the fuel was cooking out of the carbs, I added a 160 thermostat and put in a flex fan (the non-stock addition was a hard-one). I also had the carbs rebuilt and made sure the gaskets were fully sealed.
After all that, now it's having starting problems on second run + a slight lull during acceleration. If I'm restarting when hot it's hard to get it started - cold starts just fine.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Might it be as simple as a wrong choke setting? Would that impact the hot-start?
If it is the fuel cooking out of the carbs, why wouldn't it have been happening before the tune-up?
Thanks for any help - I'm still learning. -Mike Osowski
