    891 Distributor

I am refurbishing an 891 dual point distributor to use in my restoration of the top half of my 61's engine and have a few questions that I was hoping I could get answers too.

    1. I have been unable to find an exploded view of this distributor. Everyone I find is for a tach drive. How are the dual points connected together?

Also, Does the wire from the coil connect to the set of points right at the entry grommet?

    2. Is the paint semi-gloss black?

    3. Are the clips that hold the cap on painted?

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Dennis

    Dennis -

See pages 6Y-3 and 6Y-4 in the ST-12 manual for photos of the dual points installation and wiring.

The distributor was semi-gloss black; the cap clips had some sort of black plating.

Parkerizing the clips works to make the finish like factory original...

        John/Jack,

Thanks for the information. My mind must have turned off when I saw the tach drive output.

            Jack,

I've tried Eastwood Metal Blackening, but Parkerizing is new to me. I'd appreciate any info you could provide for this product/process. I'm about to restore my 879 distributor.

            many thanks,

              Tom,

While I have never tried it, Parkerizing is a method of protecting steel by applying a phosphate coating.

Google the word and you will find much information and links to several vendors that sell kits.

              Regards,

              Dennis
