Need paint formula for C2 steering damper

In the past I've used the Quanta shock absorber gray enamel to repaint new Delco shocks for my '66 and I'm pleased with the color. Recently I purchased an original '66 steering damper that still has a fair portion covered by the original paint and the original color on the damper clearly has more blue in it compared with the Quanta shock absorber gray. Has anyone done any computerized color matching of the original blue-gray steering damper color and determined a formula for the color? I'd like to have some paint custom mixed to better match the original damper color.

Gary, I do not know the correct factory color for the steering damper, but if what you are looking for is a paint that is a bit more blue than gray, Krylon sells a rattle can paint named "denim" or perhaps something with denim in the color name. It appears to be gray but with a slight blue hue. Might be cheaper than having some paint mixed. If you try the Krylon, I would like to know how it compares to the original color on your damper.

I haven't tried that Krylon hue yet, but I've tried two Rustoleum colors, Slate Blue and Natural Demin. Both were too blue and not dark enough.

Gary, I have some so called original paint that was done for me awhile back. If you would like I can make a sample and send it to you. My car has been judged three times since putiing my originals back on and everyone has had nothing but positive comments on the shocks and color.
