Where Do You Guys Find Your Non-Dot Tires for Spare
Re: Where Do You Guys Find Your Non-Dot Tires for Spare
I found 3 black wall 775x15 on a 55 chevy that was a parts car. The thread is almost new and they are holding air. I sure wish they were white walls. The only bad part is the 4th tire on the 55 is an 815x15 bw. I got that 4th one too but didn't realize the size was to big till I got it home.
Re: Where Do You Guys Find Your Non-Dot Tires for Spare
I have one original U.S. Royal blackwall 6.70/15 in brand new condition.
I thought about using it on my 1960 as the spare. Should the spare match the 4 on the ground (i.e. whitewall)? I haven't decided whether to use whitewalls or go blackwall. My corvette will be white, so the black tires might look good without whitewalls!

If you read the NCRS Judging Reference Manual, you will find that the spare not need match the 4 road tires. IE: It can be black/white/gold, etc, as long as it meets OEM specs as being available for that MY. I think it is a good rule & I think reading the JRM is a productive idea. Best, Dennis
