The top ignition shielding for my 62 340hp car is contacting the threaded rod of my throttle linkage when the accelerator is depressed. Also, the top of the linkage unit contacts the backside of the shielding, preventing wide open throttle, and potentially causing a stuck throttle. My only option is to file out both shielding passages and make them larger. Or perhaps my setup is incorrect. I'm really not having much luck figuring out the problem with the assembly manual. Any ideas? Thanks...Tcheairs P.S. I would be happy to send someone digital photos of my setup.

Re: 62 Ignition Shield interferes with Throttle Linkage
Tom,
I have a 62 340 hp as well. I would suspect that either you have the wrong shielding or the brackets that support the shielding are not correct or out of position. It should not be too difficult to identify the correct shielding and brackets. Sounds like the shielding is sitting too low and allowing the accelerator rod to contact the shielding.
Easiest solution would be to find someone nearby with the same or similar setup.
Good luck, Larry- Top

Re: 62 Ignition Shield interferes with Throttle Linkage
How is the "L" in the rod oriented where it contacts the bellcrank from the firewall? On which side is the threaded rod on the carb--inside, outside? Is the carb a real 3269S? With correct parts and correct configuration, there is absolutely no need to hog out the shielding top. If you can include a pic, we might be able to help with the diagnosis.- Top
