I recently picked up a '69 roadster, October 69 car. I see that it appears to have an original jack. Has the "A" marking on the raised top pad. Date code looks like " 8 A " which would be 1968, January. Would seem like a 1968 date... but the 1968 Corvette jacks are the smaller base, midyear style. This jack is definitely a '69-'72 jack, and it has been in there awhile. The "patina" matches the rest of the car (read: not much done with it in years).
Jan '68 is obviously before the build of the car, but too far, I would say. NCRS says some of these had no dates at all. Bizzoco says the spread should be about 3 months prior, but we all know how these cars were thrown together.
Anyone make any sense of a Jan '68 build on a '69 style jack??
