    New Member C1 question

Hello, I'm A new member with a 57 #4176. The frame is missing the top sections of the engine mounts. The car was raced in the late 60s and they put in some beefed up mounts. The bottom loops are still there so how much do I need to replace? Top only, entire mount or do I need a section of the frame?

A little more history, the car hasn't run in 20+ years but the body is in good shape. It has a 1967 corvette drive train (327 with a 3-speed automatic). Except for the mounts and a little snipping for a radiator the frame is solid.

Tom, it sounds like the frame mounted pieces are on your car and you need the rubber mount pads that go on top of those mounts along with the bolts, nuts, etc. and the front member that attaches to each side of the mounts above. This is a cross member that bolts onto the front of your engine. If you have an Assembly Manual this should show the rquired parts and where they attach. A number of advertisers in the Driveline sell repro. and original pieces. Many have online catalogs.

Tom, are you missing the small pieces of angle iron on the top and bottom of the frame that the engine towers bolt to? No sure if those are being reproduced or not. Might check with Corvettes of Michigan. Gary....

        Thanks

Actually the bottoms are there but not the tops. Even if the "new" ones looked original I couldn't leave them in because they're pushed back a bit.

Paragon has the bolted-on RH and LH upper mounts - their #467K, and the brackets they bolt to that are welded to the frame are available from Vette Products of Michigan (www.vetteproducts.net).

            Thanks John,

I ordered the brackets today. It will be a while until I need the mounts. I don't even have a (proper) engine yet. I realize its blastphomy here but I am tempted to put the 327 back in.
