    69 NOS fenders

I have 2 NOS fenders, 2 Schermershiem fenders and 1 Corvette Image fender. The First fender I got was the CI fender. There has been alot of talk here about CI fenders blistering. I dont think I want to take the chance of that. I Fit the CI fender and had problems wit the fit on the lower valance. So I ordered Schermershiem fenders. I was getting ready to fit them and finally found 2 NOS fenders. I really didn't like the way the inside of the Schermershiem fender looked. Much rougher. It didn't appear as original. The NOS tenders go on the car and they just fit right. So much better than the aftermarket. So here is my Question. The NOS fenders are not " black glass" they are light grey or tan. Is ther any way to make the inside appear as original through blackout or any other method? Thanks

    Brad,
I guess you can always paint insides satin black. I would just be happy I found NOS parts, the way that usually works is you hang the repro parts THEN you find NOS parts! Make sure you use correct bonding adhesive and have someone that's done it before help you.

If the fenders are not the correct color, they would not be NOS but would be replacement GM fenders. NOS designates same as original.

You can "color" the back sides by first shooting an adhesion promoter on the surface. Follow the instructions and then fog a satin black on them. Do not attempt to get real good coverage as it would be obvious that they had been painted

Dick, do you think it will pass judging being painted or should I keep looking for black glass? I have been looking for 3 1/2 years and this is as close as I have come. Thanks Brad

          Brad,

I'm assuming that you have not been able to find a 1969 front clip to use?
That may also be a viable option.
