    54 oil pan removal

54 pan without the step up front, is about 3/4 from steering thingy, what must come off to get the pan out of their, can pull exhaust probably low enough but what about steering stuff or anything to do with lower pulley, will pan slide out or hold up on parts in that compartment? Thanks Brad.

Brad, the pan will come off with the tie rods removed from the center arm and thew exhaust crossunder pipe swiveled down. You can then lower the rear of the pan first and it will clear (JUST BARELY!) the front.

Joe, what releases the threaded top the nuts go on to drop down thru the center arm, nuts are free but can't pull tie rod ends down, do I need to tap down with hammer or unswivel something? Thanks Brad

Brad, the tie rod ends can be removed with a fork-like tool that can be had at any parts store. Not sure what it's called.

Or a tie rod end puller, if you don't want to damage the rubber boot.
