Convention Road Trip - How to Keep Seats Cool?

This will be my 3rd Convention Road Trip this year. Am trying to figure out how to keep my seats cooler in my '64 this year in the 100 degree weather. In the past have used terry cloth towel seat covers and they aren't much help.

    Any ideas? Thanks, Gary....

Gary, I have often thought that the seat gizmos that are made of wooden beads would work but have never tried them. The beads supposedly create an air space but with my, ahem, physique or lack thereof, the space may disappear. Maybe driver/passenger cool suits ?
    Cheers,

Take a look at Kool Kooshion. I used something similar in the 60s. It is kinda stiff, but will keep you dryer.

        Bill;

Are those Kool Kushions the ones with spiral wire inside? I had some like that for my 63 back in the 60's, and they did work pretty good. The drawback came when they got a little worn and the spiral wires started to stick out through the mesh cover. The wires would stick down into the vinyl and start a tear. I have found it best here in Florida to drive on the highways with my top up, all vents and wing windows open, and to wear light colored long pants. Still, there is always that sweat running in streams down your back. The only way to make that tolerable is to wear a T-shirt to absorb the sweat, and an outer shirt to ensure it doesn't evaporate too fast (just like they taught us in the Army).

Come off some of that musty old money and spend a little money with Gordon Chisenhall over 'bout San Antonio. He can make the whole car cool! Then again you might use one of these

One of these should take care of your needs. The cooler is available at WalMart as a boat cooler, the lower one you will have to use a little bit of that Texas ingenuity

Yep; spiral wire. I never had the tear problem (that I remember). The '59 has a cowl vent that will blow your skirt up when wide open. Well, maybe not YOUR skirt, but...it will do that. I also replaced the top with one that had a zip down rear window. That was a big help, too.

The buckets in the '64 El Camino in Phoenix have

a wornout 1987 Monterey T-shirt and a Laughlin Regional shirt on the seatbacks and folded Beach towels on the bottoms.

                    Gary,

                    Try one of these fans:

Stategically placed of course. This one is set up for a slow parade.

You can also see the air cushion seat covers on the passenger side. Another thing is a spray bottle of water.

You can get all at Walmart.

                    Have fun

Jerry, gonna miss you on the Road Tour this year. I wanted to see your fan in action! At the present time, I am leaning toward the generator/ window a/c unit unit suggested by Dickie except that in order to not mar the paint on the rear deck, may place the generator on wheels and tow it

Did you notice the C-2 picture shows vents for A/C! What gives? How cool can you get? You northern boys have to come down here to Florida during our summer in order to get some conditioning. My carpeting is starting to come apart from all the sweat I've been dripping down on it. Nothing like vinyl in 95* heat. I specially like the seat vents on the backs of my 63's seats. They are all of 1/2" in diameter!

Keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, and don't get out of the seat for "pit stops".

                            You could try this:

Is that what you do? Tell us, what style Diapers do you prefer?

Surely there must be some good NASCAR methods/suggestions out there.
