Had to replace my rusted out deck lid hinges for my 65 conv, so I got lucky and found a pair in exl cond at Corvettes at Carlisle. Just got around to trying to fit the deck lid (new weatherstrip installed), but the lid sits about 1/2" above the body Don't have shims installed,so I'm wondering if these hinges are off a later year (C3) vette. The top mounting holes line up with the pivot point on the top of the hinge. Can I shorten these hinges to make them work ?

Decided to take the hinges over to a friend who also has a 65 conv. We took measurements of a hinge installed in his vette, and they matched up with my hinges. His hinges were installed with 2 shims on each one. Conclusion : I probably did'nt pull the latch to the fully closed position, and the back end of the lid was raised. Now to put every thing back together again ! At least I know they are the right hinges and don't need to be modified. -
