    Water Pump Rebuild

Darn it, I lost my Driveline....Anybody good at rebuilding good ol' 608 water pumps? I don't have the time, patience or a press to do it myself (the press is the big problem), and I have 4 cores that need new bearings/seals.

Did mine last winter, took about 2 weeks total from ship to receive. Did a really good job.

Do they come to Bloomington Gold, and what do they charge per pump?

Bill Mock did mine for my '62. 918-333-0748. I am really happy with the work and service.

I don't think they do Bloomington. The charge was $85.00 and included shipping, etc.

Try Arthur Gould Rebuilders in New York. http://www.arthurgouldrebuilders.com

They have advertised in Hemmings for many many years, and have a good reputation for quality and turnaround time.

I agree, they rebuilt my pump 4 years ago, quick turnaround, reasonable price and no complaints.

Bill Mock rebuilt my "326" water pump for my '65. He did a great job and in a relatively short time.

Does Mr. Mock come to Bloomington Gold? Only reason I'm asking is now that I have FIVE cores to rebuild, shipping those suckers would get a bit pricey. I live 10 minutes from Pheasant Run.....and they'll fit in the back of the '70!

Bill used to come to Bloomington Gold events, but he retired before the event moved to Pheasant Run.

I tried to do mine years ago and save a few bucks $$$. It some how slipped out of my vise, did a 360 spin in slow motion, hit my right foot and broke my big toe. I'm telling you, leave it to the professionals! Damn that hurt!

                        Re: Water Pump Rebuild

I got ambitious with the Corvette Central rebuild kit and a series of destructive devices a couple of years ago to do a pump....I agree, I'll just cough up the $$ and let someone who has a press and the right attachments do them. Funny thing....went to NAPA and bought a good rebuilt one for $29.99 with a core exchange, and ended up with a '608 with a 1966 date on it for a '67 small block, and the housing is in GREAT shape. I asked the dude behind the parts counter if he had any others, thinking I might as well see if there's one with the right date for my car....what the heck? Ah, to no avail....I got the only one he had. Threw a coat of paint on the critter, and it's all good! When good rebuilt ones from NAPA are $30.00, I'm thinking of tying all my cores together and selling them on Ebay as a rare Corvette Boat Anchor.
