Getting to the point where I will shortly need a body dolly for my 66 Roadster. I have the plans to build one but was wondering...to save time, if other people borrowed or found purchasing one built was a better option?
I live in Ohio and perhaps a club has a dolly they pass around?
Tom in Ohio #42996
Mine is currently in use, but even if it wasn't, it's a bit of a haul from Philadelphia to Ohio! One suggestion, if you do end up building one. Increase the wheel size (and modify the vertical frame dimensions accordingly). It makes rolling the body around the shop a breeze (my painter loves me for it)! I also put a rear addition on mine to prevent sagging and to ensure uniform door gaps. However, if I didn't suffer from being an obsessive compulsive engineer, I wouldn't sweat those kinds of details....
Sounds like you must not be a member of your local NCRS chapter! If not, you're missing out on a lot, including access to available tools and supplies. Our Mid-Atlantic Chapter (MAC) has a lot of things, including a dolly (with a '62 FI body on it right now). You should join your local chapter and take advantage of the perks of chapter membership.
If your plans are the Noland Adams ones, be sure and use the metal brackets (see pic) instead of trying to notch out the boards.

Good luck,

Bob,
The nearest NCRS chapter to me is over 40 miles and not very active but I agree would be a great idea to join.
My plans are Noland Adams and those metal brackects have got to be a real time saver!
Still waiting for a reply on a possible dolly available in Buffalo, NY.
Thanks, Tom
Hmmmm. I suppose that there are clubs that have a monthly cruise-in meeting at the local Dairy Queen and maybe yours is like that, but they still may have loaner stuff.
MAC has active members in NC, VA, MD, PA and beyond, so there is no central location. We have events almost every month, but they are tech sessions, judging schools, judging sessions, road tours, etc.
