C3 Storage Compartment Question - New Member

First time post as a new member! (long time viewer )

I'm in the process of restoring my 71's interior and need a bit of help with the storage compartment.

    1. I got a hardware kit and not sure where the rivets vs. the screws go to hold the compartment frame to the body. Can anyone shed some light on what goes where?

    2. Compartment frame has two clips underneath that hold the center compartment assembly in place. I am looking for a place to purchase the clips...can't find them anywhere and need a solution to hold the compartment in palce.

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Ron,
Try checking companies like Corvette Central, Mid America, Paragon and Corvette America. They all offer repo pieces and complete door and frames. So it is reasonable to figure that they would have what you are looking for.

You may be better trying to buy a use frame off ebay and removong the latching/clips.

I have never seen those clips on sale anywhere - might want to check with Doc Rebuild, he has all sorts of need NOS parts around

            Hi Ron,
Have you tried "Paragon" used parts? Some of the photos in their catalogue show some 68-72 'parts' cars in their backyard. Perhaps they can help with what you need.
            Regards,
            Alan

                Ron:
The rivets fasten the hinges to the plastic frame. The screws attach the frame and hinges to the body. The assembly manual has excellent diagrams of this under "Assembly and Mounting". My '69 AIM has it in UPC 1 page E7-8 (your pages are likely to be different). The riveting process is quite simple and requires a very inexpensive air chisel and rivet tool. It could be done with hand tools but since the cost of the air chisel is so low and these rivets are used all over the car it's worth getting the proper tools.

I think the clips on the front of the seat cover bottoms would work.

                    Just a reminder -
If you haven't bought from Paragon, your in for a treat.
Get online to their website. They have a wonderful online catalog
which can be downloaded and a paper copy which is free.

Next, make out your "To buy" list. If it's your first online order with them,
you get $20.00 worth of shipping knocked off your bill. If less than a $20.00
order, I think it would be free shipping. Just ask them about it.

Now, have your NCRS membership number handy because,
once you tell them you are an NCRS member, you get 10% off
                    nearly everything they carry.

                    Have fun.

                    Joe
