    56-57 Heater fitting

The elbow on the return heater hose at the firewall on my early 57 appears to be cast brass and stamped with the name "Streamline".

Is this the original or just a piece of common plumbing hardware.

The original is pn 3135067, but that number does not appear on my part.

    Thanks in advance.

    BRuce B.

Bruce, have a couple of originals and can't see anything on them other than the patent no. Photo attached. Gary....

      Re: 56-57 Heater fitting

      Gary,
      Thanks for the pictures.
In the 56-57 AIM they show the heater valve being attached to the firewall with a screw, washers and a nut.
Your picture (at least one) shows the fastening method as a screw threaded into the valve flange. That is also how mine is put on the firewall inside the car. My 57 is #809.
Are there different designs of the valve?
      Thanks,
      Bruce Bursten

Bruce, machine screws from the firewall into the heater valve is correct for '57. AIM is wrong in that respect. Slotted round head machine screws had washers between them and the firewall and were covered with dumb dumb. Hope this helps. Gary....

          Gary,
Thanks for the information, it is very helpful.
I am finishing up my 57, 250HP Powerglide car and although not totally "correct" it is important to me to understand how they were put together 51 years ago.
          Sincerely,
          Bruce B
