Is it possible to have only the right side brake lights lite up when the pedal is depressed. New bulbs, turn signals work fine. Grounding looks good. I know the 68 has an interesting stop light switch. All help appreciated.

I'd start by checking the rears when the hazard flasher is engaged, then use the wiring diagram to find common and uncommon cirtcuits and narrow the search from there.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Jack, If I had to guess, I'd say 95% of the time it's the ground on the individual back light. There have been times I would have bet money that the ground on the light housing was good, but I would have lost. Check the bulb socket too.- Top

Then use the wiring diagram to check for power at the the output terminals in that connector, and that will tell you if it's in the turn signal switch (which is usually the case).- Top

Re: C3 Brake Light Question (Stupid but I had to ask)
Thanks for the info. I recently change the switch for the third time. The original switch where the lever was wobblie and would not cancel on one side. 2nd switch, the left rear break lights would stay on, 3rd switch defective from the supplier who will remain nameless, 4th switch, cancels fine however, the left brake lights won't light when the pedal is depressed. I'll try reseating the contact points.Last edited by Jack C.; May 23, 2008, 03:35 AM.Jack Corso
