    '67 Washer Pump Hose Hookup

I've noticed on several pics from some other people with '67's that there washer pump hoses attach straight into the pump through three projections on the plastic plate. My pump seems to have never been out, but my washer bag hose attached to the plastic face plate at a right angle from underneath. Is my face plate/pump wrong? Thanks.

Kirk, Don't seem right to me. All 3 of my hoses plug in on the drivers side, straight in, no angles. Bill

      Kirk,
Here is a pic of my rebuilt 67. Not the best but it does show 2 hoses as straight in the pump.

Typical '67 production wiper motors have a 13 or 14 embossed on the main case facing the distributor. Checking this would varify a correct assembly. If so, you may have a replacement pump manifold. It also seems that I recall later models had the 90 degree manifold.
Perhaps someone else can jump in.

          Hi Kirk:

I believe that for 1967, the hose connections pointed straight out. In later years they pointed down. You can purchase a reproduction of the straight-out version, but be aware that most judges will take a point because the reproduction is "too white." Originals show up periodically on ebay, especially from a seller named pacecarjeff. I just checked and right now he only has the later style for sale. Interestingly, he lists it as correct for 1967, but I think that is a mistake, at least for Corvettes.

By the way, if you change the cover, keep the original four screws that hold it on. Some of the reproduction screws are too long, and the judges will look for that, too.

Yea, I replaced the cover and it looks like a white elephant compared to the older yellow and dingy cover that was on it. I guess it is better to have the correct style cover and it be white, versus the wrong cover yellow. Thanks.

The difference in color (stark raving white vs. slightly beige) results from a change in underlying plastic material used in today's service replacement parts vs. that used by factory original plastic components from the era.

If memory serves, the 'snow white' parts are made from nylon while the originals were made from delron. So, a minor deduction based on FINISH deviation is in order.

Finding those original washer components that haven't aged and discolored (UV + temperature exposure) is REALLY tough!
