'67 SB Valve Covers (PB & Roller Rockers)

I need tall valve covers (running full roller rockers) that both clear the rockers and the PB booster.

Right now, the drivers side (with Moroso valve covers) is sitting almost on top of the 'ol brake booster.

Anyone have a combo like this??

I would feel better with a little gap. I've been paging through a few online catalogs, but I thought someone here has probably run into this before.....

    Thanks,

    Bob

Are you SURE that the roller rockers you are using won't clear stock-height valve covers or stock height valve covers using Fel-Pro Cork-Lam valve cover gaskets which are thicker than stock? First, make sure that you have the lowest profile lock nuts you can get. I've found that Comp Cams nuts are about the lowest you can find for a big block. They may or may not be so for a small block.

In any event, place daubs of modeling clay on both ends of each rocker arm as well as the top of the lock nut. Then, install the valve covers using the Cork-Lam gaskets. Turn the engine over by hand a few times. Remove the valve covers and measure the clearance at all points by the compressed thickness of the clay. You might be surprised.

Nope, I didn'y clay it. I have the tall poly lock nuts and I'll have to check
the Fel-pro gaskets out. Something in the back of my mind says they might be 7/16........thanks for your help and good point about the gaskets...

I think I just saw a recent post where someone mentioned an available spacer that can be installed to add some height to an otherwise stock valve cover. I'm not sure I have ever seen these advertised, though.

Your original valve covers on your 67 can be used with roller rockers if you purchase from GM part #24502540. A pair of these aluminum valve cover adapters will also allow the use of permiter attached valve covers on cylinder heads that have center mounting attachments. Saw these valve cover adapters on page 20 in a 2003 GM Performance Parts catalog p/n 88961518. Says they are required when roller rockers are used.

Thanks Jim and Joe, I'm planning on dropping the stockers on today
to see how much space is needed.

I'll eyeball the GM spacers in a bit.......

            Thanks for the info........

I just dropped the stockers on and this looks like a winner.

I'll take some better measurements this afternoon, but this is looking good.

Thanks for the heads up with this one !!
