    63 Convertible Hinge Pillar Weatherstrip

    Hello, folks,

The previous owner of my 63 convertible installed the hinge pillar weatherstrip in the following manner:

"Dum dum" (sealer) between the weatherstrip retainer and the windshield post, and weatherstrip adhesive liberally (and I mean liberally) applied between the weatherstrip and the retainer.

Is this correct? I just spent a couple of hours removing a ton of adhesives from the windshield post and retainers and I don't want to screw it up.

I consulted the AIM (section 1 sheet B31.00), but I can't find any references to application of sealant.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure about this but I believe the weather strip should slide into the retainer with no sealant. The repo weather strip I got did not stay in the retainer and a small amount of adheasive was used. But I don't believe they were built that way.
