Parts and cars for sale/wanted section

When this Board went to the new format, there was some discussion about adding a section where members could offer cars and parts for sale/wanted. Was there ever a decision made about this?

My comfort level with buying (and selling) here would be about 10,000 times greater than eBay. I suppose many of us have some nice and rare parts we may someday sell; I have NOS '66 wheelcovers and a NOS '66 clock, all bought in the early '70s, for instance. I'd much rather sell them to an NCRS member who needs them instead of to some dealer who gets lucky on eBay. I had a set of almost new narrow whitewall tires that I took off my '67 that I would have given to a member who needed them.

I am not a dealer in either parts or cars, so I have no interest in using this site as a way to make money. But I think that we could all be a tremendous help to each other with parts and cars, much like the advice that is given here.

Third that motion. I sold some original dated carbs to an NCRS member on ebay, he got them but some dealers were all over them. He is putting on a 2 + year restoration. That made me feel good, they went to the right person

I'm all for that, I've got some parts and I just don't want to mess with EBay.

I am all for it. I dislike getting sniped. I would like to see a posted price and then make up my mind. I believe if we had this for sale/wanted feature, available to ncrs membes only there would be a lot more new ncrs memberss lined up to get registered.

Yeah sounds like a great idea. But what happens if someone gets shafted (dudded) which will happen, does that tarnish the NCRS. I love the idea just needs a little massaging and a few basic rules and I think it would be an awesome addition to the site. Thanks for bringing this topic up Pierre.

What could be better than giving fellow NCRS members first shot at needed parts. Heck, I'd even be willing to sell anything I had cheaper to a fellow member, knowing it will be used for the common good of supporting the hobby rather than some commando who will use it on his old Chevy beater or, worse yet, some speculator who is just out to make a profit.

Concerning the question posed by Stewart: "Yeah sounds like a great idea. But what happens if someone gets shafted (dudded) which will happen, does that tarnish the NCRS.", there is a very simple policy, that if followed by NCRS members, will prevent any possible hard feelings. When selling in a "for sale" section on this board, simply offer a seven day, 100% money-back satisfaction guarantee. I do this, with no questions asked, when selling on eBay, and have found it resolves problems completely. I'm now one of those guys Mike said "screw those selling on eBay", but, I enjoy selling my excess of parts thru a worldwide marketplace. In the past year, I've sold to at least twenty NCRS members thru eBay, but have always felt that a classified section on this board, was one of the best ideas ever promoted. Seems to me it's time to move on it, if humanly possible. Ridge.
