    C1 gas locking cap

At the price of gas now you may like to use this GM accessory ,he states it wrong saying truck but it's a C1 Corvette gas cap , I have one on my 55. It is a 1955 Corvette only accessory gas locking cap. Then you can Safely keep you NCRS cap home tell the next meet.

There's a downside to these. Remember the first gas crisis? In the middle-late '70s? When gas stations didn't have much gas to sell, so they weren't open much. That's when my '62 Corvette was an ordinary used car. It was my daily driver and commuter car. The wife had the good car. I put one of these gas caps on. Seemed like a good idea, what with gas so expensive. You know what happened. I ran out of gas late one night, and couldn't find the key. Royal PIA. There's no locksmiths open. Wouldn't have made any difference. There's no gas stations open. Even then, I knew I didn't want this car towed.

Brookline Massachusetts Police drove back to their station; found a master key; and, filled up a 2 gallon gas container from their own pump. Took a while, but I was on my way. Real good guys.

Would this cap be vented or unvented? I would use on my 59 and don't want the gas smell.
        Thanks, Joe

p.s. be careful......when they see the locking gas cap, they'll just punch a hole in the tank so they don't get "gas-in-the-mouth" from siphoning.

                    Re: C1 gas locking cap

Roy after reading your post yesteday and checking the price of the e-bay cap and checking the price again just now, its unbelievable that the price is the same as it was yesterday when I checked the cap bid price. If I had a Corvette that the cap would fit I would be bidding on it. I think it is a neat looking cap anyway. If the cap could be modified to provide a positive seal a person could modify the filler neck of a 84-96 Corvette with a tank neck this cap fits and use it.
Congratulations to Roy and Christopher for their many years of being NCRS members.

It's a pittance compared to what you'd have to pay for an original 55 gas cap.
